Assessment of global reanalysis precipitation for hydrological modelling in data-scarce regions: A case study of Kenya

چکیده

19 flood prone catchments in Kenya, Eastern Africa Flooding is a major natural hazard especially developing countries, and the need for timely, reliable, actionable hydrological forecasts paramount. Hydrological modelling essential to produce but challenging task, poorly gauged catchments, because of inadequate temporal spatial coverage hydro-meteorological observations. Open access global meteorological reanalysis datasets can fill this gap, however they have significant errors. This study assesses performance four (ERA5, ERA-Interim, CFSR JRA55) over Kenya period 1981–2016 on daily, monthly, seasonal, annual timescales. We firstly evaluate by comparing them against observations from Climate Hazards group Infrared Precipitation with Station. Secondly, we ability these simulate streamflow using GR4J model considering both parameters sensitivity identifiability. While ERA5 best performing dataset overall, varies season, catchment therefore there are marked differences suitability products forcing models. Overall, wetland western regions highlands obtained relatively better scores compared those semi-arid regions, inform future applications setting up models that be used forecasting, early warning, action data scarce such as Kenya.

the aim of this thesis is an approach for assessing insurer’s solvency for iranian insurance companies. we use of economic data with both time series and cross-sectional variation, thus by using the panel data model will survey the insurer solvency.

A comparative study of quantitative mapping methods for bias correction of ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data

This study evaluates the ability of different quantitative mapping (QM) methods as a bias correction technique for ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data. Climate type and geographical location can affect the performance of the bias correction method due to differences in precipitation characteristics. For this purpose, ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data for the years 1989-2019 for 10 selected syno...

Evaluation of dynamically downscaled reanalysis precipitation data for hydrological application

Skilful and reliable precipitation data are essential for seasonal hydrologic forecasting and generation of hydrological data. Although output from dynamic downscaling methods is used for hydrological application, the existence of systematic errors in dynamically downscaled data adversely affects the skill of hydrologic forecasting. This study evaluates the precipitation data derived by dynamic...
